Sketch

Sketched and coloured in photoshop using my drawing tablet.
This idea evolved as I played with the sketch. I'm trying to
spend more time experimenting and playing with different
styles.

Portrait sketch: orange and blue

An imaginary face drawn in photoshop using a drawing tablet. It is amazing how responsive the tablet is, and with some practice it is very similar to drawing on paper - with the added benefit that I can edit what I've drawn immediately, retract my steps if I don't like what I've done, or re-colour it completely...

Portrait sketch detail

Detail of a photoshop sketch done using a drawing tablet. At the moment I'm drawn to a combination of light and heavy linework with areas of blocked-in colour alongside blank space.

Sketch variation

I like this variation. Good use of closure my art teacher would say...

Sketch with Pattern

I'd like the faces to be framed by patterns - they will take ages to cut out of lino, but I think it will be worth it.

Test Sketch

Another Photoshop Sketch. I'm thinking of using these as the basis for further lino prints in my Penitent Men series. Although this one doesn't look too penitent.

Sketching Faces

I'm busy learning how to use my drawing tablet in Photoshop. This sketch is based on Head of a Negro (1778); an oil painting by John Singleton Copley.
